TOPS®#OK 295, Tulsa
78.50 pound loss
to goal
My success story: To God be the Glory
for the great things He has done.
It all started about 3 years ago when I became discouraged, depressed
and desperate about how I looked and how I physically felt. It was
very frightening to lay down to sleep, wondering if I would awake the
next morning or not.
Having had open heart surgery, one would think my lifestyle of eating
and physical activity would have changed me, not so.
The desire in my heart was to get victory over this situation but
there seem to be no signs of it. I didn’t give up with praying and
asking Jesus for help.
Well, one day it happened!! There’s a verse in the Bible that says;
‘Trust in the lord with all thy heart; and lean not unto thy own
understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct
thy paths.’
God lead me through my longtime friend Marybeth Slabby, to a wonderful
group of ladies in TOPS®#OK295, Tulsa for the love and support I
needed. These ladies are outstanding! They are compassionate
intelligent and great pillars of strength. They are the greatest
cheerleaders you could have on your side along with my Mom who
prepared many a salad and the support of all my children.
I would also like to mention that I have been able to stay in the
Black until my weight goal was attained. Thank you Lord!
Since my weight loss I have been able to get off at least 4 major
medicines and am down to 2 medicines that cost less than $5.00 a
month.
I am truly blessed and I thank you TOPS®#OK295, Tulsa chapter
for being there for me and with me tonight on this Journey to Success!
Thank you for the honor to be your State Queen this Year.

TOPS®#OK 074, Broken Arrow
50.0 pound loss to goal
My success story: Sandy Umholtz then
leader of TOPS®#OK074, Broken Arrow chapter found me binge eating at
an all you can eat buffet in Tulsa in May of 2003.
At that time I weighed in at over 220
pounds. Sandy was shocked to see how round I had grown. Sandy
approached me with great concern over my health since my 3 and 4-year
son and daughter were sitting next to me. I was eating pasta and
Sandy said ‘you know they call that heart attack on a plate’. I
looked at my children then looked at my big belly with one of its
rolls of fat pouring over the table. What she said really made me
think about my children’s future.
I then asked myself the question, do I
want to live long enough to see my children graduate from high school
or even college? Am I going to be there to help them in their 20’s
30’s or 40’s? Will I live long enough to see my grandchildren? I
then realized the chance I was taking with my future and family by
being obese in my 40’s.
Sandy then urged me to attend her TOPS®chapter. I looked her in the eyes, put down the one-pound meatball
that was at the end of my fork and said ‘I’m with you Sandy’.
I then started
attending her fine TOPS®chapter of wonderful supporters.
The members of
TOPS®#OK074, Broken Arrow has given me support and friendship that I
have never experienced in my life. I would weigh in every week with
my best friend and weight recorder, Deanie Sparks, who is the spitting
image of my long lost grandmother ‘bib mom’ whom I love with all my
heart.
The TOPS®chapter
total commitment, understanding and support has honestly saved my life
and saved my children’s father.
Thank you so
much, Sandy Umholtz, Deanie Sparks and all of the TOPS®#OK074, Broken
Arrow members for your love and support and commitment to my health.
Thank you.
