2006 STATE ROYALTY
2006 State Queen

Michelle Lowrance
TOPS®#OK282, Hobart
148.0 pounds loss to goal
Success Story
I have always been overweight.
My mom, who is a long time TOPS®member, would try to persuade me to join
TOPS®but I would refuse. A few years ago three of my co-workers decided
to join another weight loss organization at the beginning of the year
and encouraged me to join with them. I decided it was time to do
something about my weight, but I couldn't join with them knowing my mom
would love for me to join her group. I was a little nervous about
joining TOPS®at first. The youngest person in TOPS®was my mom and I was
afraid I would feel out of place, but that wasn't the situation at all.
They are a great group of
ladies and I miss them when I am unable to attend.
There is no great secret to
losing weight. I contribute my weight loss to diet, exercise, and
support. The first thing I did was change my diet. I ate less fried food
and more veggies, and I drank less soda pop and a lot more water. The
next thing I did was started moving. I started walking just a mile or
two around town. When I started loosing more weight my friends at work
but me a gym membership. I am now walking 7 miles a day and attending an
exercise class 3 times a week. The most important part too my weight
loss journey is the support I have received from my friends and family.
They are always encouraging me. TOPS®has definitely been a rewarding
experience.

"Queen Mother"
Michelle Lowrance, our 2006
Oklahoma State Queen was crowned by her mother, Pam Lowrance. Pam
was our 2000 Oklahoma State Queen with a loss of 62 pounds to goal.
Pam is now a 6 year KOPS®alumni!

Samuel Garcia from TOPS®#OK270, Oklahoma City lost 11.25 in
2006 making him Oklahoma 1st place Preteen Division 8 and
International Preteen Division 8, Second Place
"The main reason I want to lose weight is for my health. There
are four people in my family and I am the only one who doesn't have
diabetes. My mom keeps encouraging me to lose weight so I do not
develop diabetes, too. About eight months ago I went to my doctor
for a physical exam. He told me if I didn't lose weight now, I could
have a heart attack by the age of 21. That really scared me. I know
I can lose weight. I pray every day and believe in myself."
