I joined TOPS in July 2007. I did like most new members and lost an
awesome 50 pounds the first year. Unfortunately, I let the HOLIDAYS
keep on going and gained all the weight back over the next two
years. On February 7, 2010, I was told that I was diabetic.
Initially, I was devastated. I shared the news with my TOPS family
and one of them pointed out – this is a disease you CAN have control
over. I realized she was right. I did not want to give in. I love
LIFE, I love my family, I want to LIVE! My motivation changed from
not only wanting to be slim, but more importantly, I want to be
healthy. I take one day at a time and with the support of my
wonderful TOPS family and my determination, I am on the ROAD AGAIN!

When I rejoined TOPS after a prolonged absence, my driving thought
was INVOLVEMENT WAS THE SOLUTION. I dug in my heels to do just
that. Later, somehow, it wasn’t working, I was actually gaining
weight. I was not taking care of myself as I should.
The evidence was all there, all 200 pounds of it, and the increasing
risk of health issues loomed over me.
I Had to Change my Lifestyle! Something finally clicked. I started
losing and in November of 2009 and I reached my goal this last year.
While I do look so much better, the bonus is how GREAT I Feel!
Thank you TX 13 Texas City. You really came through when I needed
the encouragement.
