Loss of 106 Pounds
My first encounter with TOPS was in 1974 when I only had 35 pounds
to lose to be Chapter Queen. I lost my KOPS status and the shame
caused me to drop out. Years later, a friend I cared so much for
was struggling with cancer and asked me to visit TOPS in Midland. I
so loved her that I joined to give her support and just to be with
her. The chapter kept welcoming me back and they were so nice, I
just had to stay, even going to a Retreat twice. Should have
worked, RIGHT? Not quite. I finally resorted to lap band surgery.
After all, I couldn’t even fit my wide angle bottom in a comfortable
chair anywhere. Planes, trains and automobiles were the pits! I did
all that was required to prepare; tests, journaling, psychological
tests – and then it was full steam ahead. Can there be problems
after surgery? Of course and I had some but thankfully we were able
to resolve those and her I am 121 pounds lighter now and soon to
reach my goal. Then of course I want to do something with my
batwings and my thunder thighs need a trim. A year from now, they
will remove the excess skin and donate it to the burn unit. While
it took 6 months of counseling before my surgery, I had and still
have the support of my TOPS chapter, TX 1139 Midland. While I know I
can’t be TOPS Royalty, I know my journey has been with God at my
side every step of the way. Thank you TOPS for allowing me to be a
member of your fine organization. I know you are there for me
whenever I need you. We are BFFs….Best Friends Forever. God Bless.
